You have to find a Muffler Shop with sympathetic car owners working there. I took mine in last month and asked an old guy to do the U-Bend Delete and he not so politely refused to do it. I guess there wasn't enough profit in the job for the owner. He told me I was crazy ... to leave it alone and left me looking for another place to do it.

I found a Body Shop that's going to do it for me for $175.00 but I have to get the Part for them ... or the price goes up if they have to order an O-2 Threaded Insert and make the piece from scratch.

Rick, you're about to get ripped. Theres exhuast shops in the south that can do it for less than that and they'll make a part for you.

ROLF!!!

all a ubend delete is a section of pipe where they put an o2 bung... you can order a bung for like less the five bucks. and a section of pip to be welded in doesnt cost much... if the entire thing costs more then $40 for a shop to do, then you are being ripped off.

now if your talking about having them fab up a new down pipe that is another story... your better off buying a premade DP from one of the many venders out there.

x2

I'd tell them to stuff it for $175, thats rape. Its seriously 2 cuts, 2 welds, maybe 8" of pipe, and an O2 bung. The O2 sensor needs to stick straight out the side (ideally you want it angled up as much as possible ((I believe Bosch says 10* minimum angle))- but there are a ton of people running without problems with it parallel to the ground.

If they're gonna charge that much, just buy this:

Thats only $50- already has an O2 bung welded in, and has a stock flange on the one side- so its literally 1 weld, 2 bolts, and its done. If they charged more than $30 to put that on, I'd probably walk- I can't imagine that take a real exhaust guy more than 15 minutes to install.

Oh, and what kinda exhaust shop doesn't have O2 bungs in stock? I thought that was kinda odd- when I was having my quickie exhaust made after my swap- they welded on an O2 bung about in that same spot for my wideband O2 for free. Those bungs don't cost them hardly anything if they're buying in bulk from a supplier.
