Default Symptoms of a clogged catalytic converter?

I have a 2000 Monte ss and during acceleration it bogs down until I let up on the gas pedal and press down again.

I have replaced all spark plugs and wires and it got a little better. i also had the intake gasket replaced because it was leaking and may have cause my CAT to clog.
I want to get your opinions before I buy a new one thanks guys!

You can go to an exhaust shop and have a back pressure test done to determine it.

But that does sound extremely similar to when mine was clogged.

sometimes when a cat is plugged you can smell a rotten egg smell in the car.

I believe the '00 and '01 factory issued cats were prone to failures due to GM getting a large batch of poorly manufactured ones when those models rolled through the assembly lines.
Definitely get it checked out. Also, usually when a cat is clogged and causing poor performance, it will glow red if you look at it after a drive while the car is still running. If you see that, go get it changed ASAP.

Go to a gm dealer with a service, I believe that the cats are a free replacement if defective, or bad. Ask again just to be sure. Anyway i had a clogged cat in my '01 ss and could barely make it up hills, i unhooked the exhaust right at the rear manifold and it ran like a dream, just loud, before getting a new one.

That was part of a program that GM extended the warranty to a certain mileage or age (which ever came first). Last I knew, unless GM extended it further, that campaign is over. But, never hurts to ask, the worst they can say is "no".

Yeah no doubt, i had the same problem on my 01 ss, went to the local gm dealer and told them my cats bad. They said they still had to do a $90 diagnostic check. And if it was a bad cat then it wouldn't of costed me anything. But i was sure they would of said something else is causing the cat to be bad and i would of eventually been stuck with the $90 diagnostic fee lol so i just said forget it ill put one on myself. Good deal too!
