Default Straight Pipe? looking for more sound

Hey as you may know I got my exhaust done on my 3.4 LS, well I want it a little louder, so I was wondering if I just got the muffler cut off what it would sound like. As of right now I have the U-Bend Delete and Resonator delete and a flowmaster 40 delta flow. Would cutting the muffler out hurt anything? such as performance or affect my engine longetivity? I just want a little bit more sound out of it.
Hit me with your suggestions!
Thanks

been there done that......they are not happy in cold weather with hollow pipes. and the lack of backpressure is not good for the motor at all. go with an slp loudmouth bullet muffler where your resonator used to be. sounds about the same and wont hurt the car

Like poop- at least in my opinion. Straight piped engines don't normally sound that great. It wouldn't hurt anything, performance will be roughly the same- possibly a little higher peak hp, with lower torque- but the engine won't be hurt by it.

Personally, I'd say if you want a louder setup than what you have- buy an electric cutout, have it put up front- that way you can open it with a switch and have it stupid loud and nasty, but you can still close it for daily driving.

I had one glasspack in place of the resonator... it didn't sound horrible... didn't sound great either, more loud than anything. I got tired of it after I took a couple of friends and my girlfriend on a double date and they had to yell ot talk to me. Didn't bother me alone. I got the stock mufflers put back on after that! SLP sounds like a good plan to me. Maybe good Magnaflows.

So when you had the SLP muffler on i am assuming you didnt have two mufflers? Like you only had the one SLP where the resonator belongs, and what advantages belong to putting the muffler there? also do you actually buy the SLP bullet resonator or just the muffler?

I personally like dynomax turbo mufflers...they seem to give a nice low rumble at idle and still have a nice tone at higher rpms.

I 2nd the Dynomax system. I have it on my 03 and I think it sounds better than the SLP that I have on the 05. But, the Dynomax system isn't stainless. You would have to paint the pipes with high heat exhaust paint or it will rust (if you live in the snow belt).

So I think im going to order an SLP loudmouth muffler and just swap it out for my Flowmaster and see how that sounds, if not I will just try a resonator..
