I have Ram Air on my 2000 LS and to tell you the truth, the OEM box was better. I'd go with a closed in but high flow box; I'm in the process of trying to fabricate my own right now.

You need to read the advice that was posted in your first thread about this exact same subject.

Just build a CAI and youll be happy. Its very easy and no, a ram air wont do anything but let you hear the engine/charger more.................

After 50,000 miles with a K&N CAI I went back to stock. I shorted out 2 mass air flow sensors, and that's not fun when they are $250 a pop. I wish I never would have taken out my OEM. It's fun when you're young (which is when I did it) but to have a car that's reliable and runs is more important when your out of school and no one notices.

If you were having a problem with over oiling the filters- why not switch to a dry cone instead? I could've swore AEM made a dry cone filter.

You are right, but the way I see it...I have a monte with 100K miles on it, and no money for a new car. I'm mostly concerned with longevity. She is past her heydays, and I would just like to keep chuggin'. I was surprised how little an aftermarket CAI really helped with gas mileage, after I took it off I could still get 28 Highway 24 city.
