Default Resonator delete question 2006 SS

I recently purchased an 06 Monte SS and have been researching what to do with my exhaust. Im not trying to spend much for now so Im looking into just welding in exhaust pipe to take the place of my resonator. Im wondering if anyone has the correct length of pipe needed and if I should flare out the ends a bit to slip over the 2.5in factory pipe, after removing the resonator. Would clamps work instead of welding? Ive been looking for awhile and no one seems to have measurements or how to's! Please let me know of any thoughts or answers!

I deleted my resonator, sorry dont remember the demensions it is clamped in not welded. Just take your resonator to an exhast shop and have them do the measuring and build you a straight pipe

Oh ya, but in addition to the sraight pipe I added Magnaflow cat backs.
I get a healthy purr idleing and a mean rumble taking off.
Sort of like the Beach boy's lyrics "She purrs like a kitten till the Lake pipes roar"

Sometime I would like to look into getting a stright back duel exhaust and eliminante the Y pipe

I really want the magnaflow but I suppose I should probably plate the car first lol. I went to a local shop and they found it hard to believe that it was 2.5inch pipe...am I wrong? They said $60 to weld it in. Seems kinda steep.

2.5" ??? You have an 06 SS 5.4 liter? or is it the v6? mine was 3.5" 4.5" at the tips........ Edit< Ok I see that your post says SS sure it is not 3.5"???>

To me no, $60 bucks to fabricate and weld it in seams right. I paid 30 something just for them to make the pipe. What type of material are they making the pipe from? Mine is galvinized steel stainlees was expensive and I don't drive the car in winter.

Yeah its the 5.3 V8. They were thinking it was 2.25 but from what ive read its the 2.5. Im guessing they will give me the galvanized steel as well. Ive got a Honda for the winter so im not worried about it lol

Did you run the stock cats without the resonators before you installed the magnaflows? Do you have a sound clip?

Also, what difference in sound will you be expecting by going true dual?

I have heard stock exhaust with resonator delete and I wasn't a big fan of the sound. That is why I got the magnaflow kit and since have deleted the res from the cat back

I deleted the reasonator at the time I installed the Cat backs the cats are still stock

I was under the impression (maybe wrongly) that a straight back dual system would give me some extra HP. I was also told that it wouldn't be possiable to do straight back becuse of issues of routing the pipes.
