Default Res delete.7th gen ss

7th Gen SS owners, halp, hows the res delete sound? Feel? And is it worth it? youtube videos somewhat help, esp shockers! SHOUT OUT TO SHOCKER! but no seriously, opinions!

My main question i guess is does it make it sound meaner and is it very noticable inside in the cabin of the car? How does it sound windows down? And will my gfs family hate me from leaving late night? This is coming from completely stock, no CAI and no other mods besides looking sexy.

Res delete... Doesn't really add much sound... not with stock mufflers....
If you went to chambered mufflers, glass packs, or no mufflers at all...
Then it would be excessively loud.

I did cat back duals, res delete, and chambered mufflers with tails...

No droneing, just crisp clean tone out of the tails.... It all just depends on how far your willing to take it without loseing bAck pressure and thus caauseing it to not only sound like a rice burner... but it will run like a P.O.S.

I swear i was just reading what you wrote lol, but on LS1tech . Res makes it sound decently meaner, but not excessively loud. what about adding a glass pack where the res is currently? I think I said that right. My friend got his bonniville done and it sounds pretty friggen mean for a small v8. Im not sure if thats right though, but he told me he basically has the same system a gto has.

For me it all boils down to personal preference....
You might want to go onto youtube, and check some of the sound bite videos
maybe that will give u a better idea how you want it to sound.

I have been contemplating this as well for my 7th gen. For me I want a nice throaty hollow burble sound. I'm not a big ford guy. But the mustangs I think have some of the best sounding engines out there. The 5.0 and GT500 with some exhaust work have a nice deep throaty burble. Where the LS series engines tend to have more of a full sound if that makes any kind of sense. It's all personal preference as STUMPMI said. I have looked at some videos on youtube, but you can only tell so much from videos. It would be nice if I could hear an LS4 with a res delete in person. It may be something I will do just to try. If I don't like it then I can try a glass pack or something like that in place of the resonator.

I know some complain of how the 3800 sounds without a res, I don't mind it and noticed without a res, I felt a little extra on the ol' butt-dyno lol.

On my 3800 Monte, I have ZERO plans to ever put a res back. The res changes the tone of the exhaust slight (without it, I find the tone a little tinny, but not a big deal), but the res is a small restriction in exhaust flow.

Now on the v8 in the 7th gen, I know nothing about the sound change, I'd imagine minimal but I bet again, a small bump in performance with it gone.

It's not a weight reduction, the baffles in the res cause a small amount of "restriction" in exhaust flow.

I have res delete with magnaflows and it added just the smallest amount of sound when i took it off. I would imagine you would get even less with the stock mufflers. The biggest change for me was going catless and now it sounds meaner than **** haha. I have a little drone on the highway now but I love it. Sounds good with the windows up or down. Mine is mellow enough at idle and low rpm that it's not super loud....until you give it some gas then it's another story. Honestly I would get some different mufflers to start and keep taking stuff off from there until you find the sound you are looking for.

Edit: just noticed you have seen my videos....hahaha oh well I will give you another reminder. Thanks though! I try to periodically do videos of the sound of mine so people have an idea and don't have to shoot in the dark like I did during the whole process.

I dont have a video of just the res taken off my system but here is how it sounds now.

the beginning, 1:25ish, and 2:20 are probably the best examples on this one.

the garage door really made that little bit of rasp stand out. Anyways it kind of gives you an idea. I should do a new one out in the open.

If you still have your cat it won't add much sound. Maybe get just a hair more aggressive sounding. Honestly I would just cut it out...you dont have to worry about rapsyness until you take the cat off. These cars keep a really deep tone and the more aggressive it is the better it sounds IMO.
