Default new SLP exhaust, comments on bumper cutouts

ok so i got my cat back installed today, and i love it. well the guy at the muffler shop told me to take a dremal and make my own bumper cutouts, which seems like a great idea.

the only thing i dont like is that i could mess up a 600 dollar bumper.

do you think it would look ok.

it has 3.5 tips so i was gonna take a 3.5 whole saw and do the cutouts, making sure to clean and tape first. then i was going to dremal the extra 1/2 inch or so. i talked to a guy at a body shop and he told me they sell the surround pieces and i would just have to scre um it and paint um.

should i have the shop do it or try it myself. i need my tips.

what's up, I didn't get a chance to take any pics, sorry, it was raining and pretty crappy out today around here. I do have a couple older pics, but they are not the best!! and the outside diameter is 5 inches...

sounds like if you mess up the slightest bit the surroundings will cover it?

lol so after work today i jacked her up and thought i was just gonna do some cutting and be done.

then i figured out that the hangers sit to high and i would have to cut some of the actual bumper out. so i went to a body shop, they dont do exhaust, went to an axhaust shop, they dont do bumpers. lol and so on

so i went to the autoparts store and picked up some strap link cable, i think its called, and mounted the tips below the bumper. its OK for now, untill i find an LTZ bumper in the junkyard.

i wonder if the LTZ or SS bumper guts are less substantial then mine or if theres just hang lower.

i thought the SLP loud mouths were way too loud b4 the tips, but they sound sweet now w/o the echo.

I know your car has a different engine than mine, and I can't make an accurate comparison, but how is the overall sound of the SLP setup? It's the SLP LoudMouth2, correct? I'll be getting the powerflo, it's all that's available for the 3800 now.

i got mine from summit racing, the actually store.

im pretty sure the same kit works for the 3.4, 3.5, 3.8, and 5.3

it was kind of embarrasingly loud w/o the tips, i think casue of the echo. with the tips it wounds amazing. i was beginng to think i had got jewed out of 614 bucks and a couple afternoons.

Nice! I'm glad you're pleased with SLP, I'm definitely going with the SLP exhaust sometime next month I suspect. It's the best sounding exhaust all around for my car. Did you install the exhaust system yourself? Or did you have the muffler shop do it? I'm curious what they charged you if you had it installed at the shop, I'd like to know how big a bill I'll be looking at.

well i was planinng on doing the install myself, but my friend had his daughter this weekend. so iwent to a shop on monday and they did mine for twenty bucks.

idk how much it will cost you casue i gave them my 5 month old oem one.
lol thanks chevy for an 800 dollar exhasut, that made irritating noises for 5 months then i traded for an install. lol

i had to basicly rehang the mufflers myself though and clamp the tips.

you might not have that problem if you have dual bumper cutouts.
