Default new exhaust

I just bought a 06 ss and had 40 series flowmasters installed. Awesome v8 sound but.......... when the 4cyl mode kicks in it is more noticeable. kind of a offbeat rumble. Should I just live with it or go back to stock? Any ideas or opinions?

you just replaced the mufflers? anything else? are the resonators still there? do you have a cold air intake? your prob best off asking an exhaust shop on ideas since they have many years with mufflers. but i would leave the new mufflers on... and if it still is too loud or not the sound you want you can add in a glass pack or resonator or somthing to get the tone where you want it.

Stick with the Flowmasters, do the U-Bend delete and get a KN drop in filter to really uncork the engine.

Hey Robert... I would be forwarned about Kicker's amps man... I had the SX650 powering my 2 L7s and it worked great, sounded nice, delivered a good punch, but one day I was showing some people my set up and it just turned off, then I noticed a funky smell coming from the back of my car. When I went back there.... turns out the amp had shortet itself so badly it actually started smoking quite bad actually... I think if I had left it on any longer it might have actually caught fire... well I took it back to the place I bought it from (I do all my own installs) and the guy there told me that Kicker makes great subs but hasn't been in the amp bussiness too long so they tend to be pretty shotty. Right now I have a Memphis Audio 1200 mono and I'm running at 2 ohms and I have had it for about a year with no problems at all. Just thought I would let you know of my experience with Kicker amps. Maybe it was just a strange defect, but it kind of put a bad taste in my mouth for Kicker amps.

I'm sure the right PCM hack would do it, but there might be a simple fuse answer.

Why would you want to turn off the DOD though? Nobody really listens to your mufflers by the time that system kicks in anyway.

After a couple of weeks of flowmaster mufflers I had to go back to stock. I got sick of the 4cyl sound and hearing the constant shifting back and fourth between 4 & 8. My exhaust tech called flowmaster and they are aware of the problem with the 06 ss. Quieter mufflers is the only fix for now. To bad. I really liked the v8 part of it all!

Simple solution, Drive in "3" all the time, for the sake of a few hundred RPM's its not a big deal, and it is ALWAYS on 8 CYL's

Dont know if anyone knows that trick..
