Nice job on the Intake! I am interested in this myself. Do you have some kind of support brace for the tube to keep the filter from sagging down; like attached to the fender crossbar and is the pipe opening 3.5"? Also, will those strut bars you linked too fit our cars? Obviously they do, but the description didnt say 2006 models.

I realize the bars say they are not specifically made for the 06-07's, however if you use the brackets from ZZPerformance.com,they bolt up PERFECTLY!! I think the problem is if you just try and bolt up the brace without the brackets, the bar will hit our alternators. These brackets lift the bar just enough to clear the alternator, and still be able to close the hood with no obstructions. It looks close, but I have had mine on for several miles and I see no rubbing on the bar itself, or the hood insulation.

The intake is not secured to anything. It is VERY rigid and holds it's position well without zip ties.I suppose you could zip tie it to the fender brace for extra security if you feel it necessary.I did zip tie the bottom of the stock airbox to the car itself, and then zip tie the 2 computers in the stock airbox to the airbox itself. This makes the 2 computers secure and look almost like it came from the factory this way.I hate things that are cobbled together, and I am more than happy with how this turned out.The instructions with the intake make the install childs play.

I hope this answers your questions, and if there are any more please don't hesitate to ask.I am on here regularly and love to help out a fellow Monte/Impala owner whenever I can.

Peace,
Jim

We have tons of snow on the ground soI have not driven the car since the install. I have however started her up, and let me tell you, it sounds MEAN as hell. A little off idle all the way to redline she just screams.Probably the best $70 I have ever spent.

Ok, so you left the bottom part of the airbox in the car and then secured the other components? Do you happen to have a pic of what you did? Im having trouble visualizing this right now; im at work and cant go look at the engine. If you cant; Ill try to take a look at it tomorrow or the next nice day.

i bought my air intake from the same company (insys) and i'm happy with the performance and sound for sure. i drove for almost an hour after installing it. mine doesn't go quite as far over to the fender well as yours does (i have the washer fluid resevoir on that side where your filter sits) i'm also looking to fab up a box for it, but in the mean time it's cold here, so it works.

06MCLTZ- Have you gotten this installed yet? How do you like it so far? I have finally gotten to really test mine out, and I am real impressed with the sound. Not really sure if there was a lot of a perfomance gain.
