Default My new Fenderwall intake

Today after school i went to Advanced Auto Parts to see if the had anything to custom build an intake and the guy said thast all they had was a universal one for 150.00. Hell i could buy one off 3800 for that much. so i decided to take phoenix's advice and try out menards and thats where i found this pipeing for 20 bucks so i figured i would give it a try.

An hour and a half later im done. there was a few problems getting it to fit right but it was worth it. the biggest problem was the brace for the front fender and trying to get the pipe to run through it. But i just grinded down the edges about 1/8th of an inch on each side and the pipe fits right in.

It sounds great and there is some difference from before and i can tell there is some better flow because my exhaust seems to be louder but maybe it just seems that way to me.

Good job, man! Did you just reuse the same filter from the previous intake?

yes i did just reuse the same air filter from my other one but i did clean the filter with one of the K&N cleaner kits that i got for 10 bucks at Advanced auto. so i guess my total for the entire thing if i would ofbought a new filter would of been around 50 bucks
20.00 pipe
10.00 cleaner
20.00 new filter

Ben
the paint i used is dupli-color high heat with ceramic from Advanced auto. On the engine color i went over it with a paint thiner to get any dirt off and put two 3 coats on it and then painted the numbers by hand then another 2 coats of clear coat. then on the piece over the radiator i went over it with a thiner again and then 3 coats and then 2 of clear. On the bars i sanded them down with a high grit sand paper i think like 800 or something and then put 3 coats on and 2 of clear. on the interior i just used the high heat because i had already painted my engine cover and the bars in the engine bay so i wanted the interior to match so i just used it on the inside. i didnt sand any of my stuff down because i wanted it to have that stock look of it being some what rough. so iwent over every thing that i was goin to paint with alow paint thiner and then put 4 coats on each area and then two more clear coats and let it dry and then i was done every thing in my car probably took me about from a friday night after school to sunday after noon.

it looks like from your pic that you got rid of them..but have you considered painting the cross braces red on your engine bay?? one of my friends witha grand prix did that and it looks really sharp...he cleared them and everything and put grand prix stickers on them...looks really sharp...

just thought i'd suggest it to you
