This is actually my first post on this forum. My good friend has 2003 pace car Monte. He has spent tons of money on replacing his catalytic converter a few times. The warranty won't cover it anymore because it has about 160k miles on it already! His current cat is going again. He replaced the last one about 7 months ago.
My questions is about going catless:
Is there a fix for the check engine light he would get after hollowing out the cat?
Would it give him any extra power?
Has anybody here done this?

Before I get flamed, I did search and came up empty.

Going catless will/may give you problems when you go to get it inspected but other than that it can and has been done. Your friend will need to get an O2 emulator ~ H E R E ~. The CAT is a flow hog and it most certainly give him more power... While he is down there get rid of the Ubend.... It's worth 8HP...
