Muffler tailpipe on '06 or '07
Can any member who has an '06 or '07 with the 3.5L or 3.9L (I think these are the LT's and LTZ'S) with dual exhaust that are factory tell me if the tail pipes coming off the mufflers are straight back or are they curved to some degree as they exit under the rear bumper. I am hoping to find a factory exhaust system where the short tailpipes coming out of the muffler are perfectly straight back - no bends. Help please.

Trewyn15: I think you are absolutely right - the after market systems as least some of them are straight back - My old magna flow is straight back. But what I am trying to do is put a dual system on the replacement Impala I bought as a driver. It has a 3.5L - I understand is the same as the 3.9L. But I have the closed bumper without cutouts and I need an exhaust system with straight tail pipes so I can cut them to length and attach turn down tips on it to avoid hitting the bumper I have. And the '06 & '07 systems are a direct bolt up from my research but I have never seen the exhaust tips. The SS exhaust tips there is just not enough pipe left after cutting to attach a tip. So I was looking for help on what the LT system with duals looked like. Thanks

its hard because not a whole lot of people have modded 06 and 07 not to mention an ls or lt, i would think you would need bumper cutouts, unless you wanna drop the tips 3-4 inches which is still possible

Montecarlo 3831 - The picture is great - those appear to be aftermarket mufflers. I would prefer to stay with a stock system and yes I am trying to do something like that but I don't necessarily want them to extend so far out. Are those mufflers lower or are just the tips? Can you tell me how to lower the tips on a stock tailpipe? I have already bolted up the hangers onto my car and I know the LT 3.9L dual system will bolt directly to my car. But the tailpipes will run right into the lower bumper - I can lower the tips like you suggested if you tell me how or I can cut them short and put turn down tips on them and just have them behind the bumper and no one will see them that way the exhaust won't damage the bumper. Can you give me some specific direction that would help me. Thanks Also is it possible to cut the lower bumper professionally?

read through this thread made by the member (mak330) whose car it is in the pic I posted......new SLP exhaust, comments on bumper cutouts ( 1 2 3)
I think I would see if someone could do the exhaust cut-outs for you! I think that would actually be the best way to go....

Montecarlo 3831 - I read your links you sent. There was a mention of 'surround pieces' - can only assume these are the cutout trim in the bumpers. There was mention of the body shop selling these. Do you or anyone you know who sells these things. This is my solution but I just do not know where to buy them.
