This is a copy of another post I just made:

I can't say about the horsepower, but I drive 100+ miles per day commuting. I had the car 2 weeks and averaged 22.5mpg. I then put on the K&N intake, and now average 24.4-24.7mpg. 44,000miles driven since purchased translates to a savings of 159.5 gallons of premium gas. At $3.00/gal, I've saved over $478 in gas. My K&N has more than paid for itself! Plus I've saved $200! Thanks K&N.

I did not get a CARB sticker, nor do I have any other stickers under the hood, only the K&N logo on the intake.

I do have a custom Lexan clear cover to help with the underhood heat problem. I am about to make another new one for show. The old one was free scuffed material, but works great.

I usually can't hear mine because of the stereo cranking.

Thank you! My first mod and I feel like a proud mom, LOL. The only thing is.....my gas bill seems to be a little steep for some reason. Hmm, couldn't be the fact that I can't keep my foot out of it, could it? LOL

Hmmm, now with more air flow, I wonder if the computer is adding more fuel to compensate or to keep you from running too thin orprevent pinging. Just a thought.

Hey.. Waaaaaitaminute.. I just noticed something...

Bearing in mind that the 5.3's engine cover doesnt go as far over as the 3.9's Id almost say that they look like they are the exact same tube, and airbox.. Im just looking at the brake fluid resonator and the pipe clamp.. Id betcha that the 3.9L has the same too.. Hey Mom, can you find me a part number on your old airbox? We'd need somebody to take a similar shot of a 3.9L.. Grandpa? The only huge difference i can see is the coolant overflow bottle on the 5.3 is on the side where the air filter is... And thats a pretty minor detail we can work around...

Id bet a quarter to say that GM cheaped out and Is using the same airbox and ducting for all 3 engines, and if this is the case, then in theory the filtercharger would work on all engines, right?

And does anyone know how to get that engine cover off?

I think we might be onto something here!

Okie- dokie, here ya go, but just bear in mind that I call everything a thingamajig and a whatchamacallit but I’ll do my best.
Here are the #’s that I could find. There are factory stickers with what I believe is a production date, code and barcode on each piece of the box. Let me know if you think you need these numbers.

On the box – PPT20 CAV 1 and the plastic inlet? tube inside the box – V8 PPT20

Here is what is stamped on the air cleaner cover – V8 15871618 – PA6GF30 – CAV1

Here is the base stamping – 15871616 – PPT20 – CAV2

On the rubber outlet? tube – V8 16824022 – 1 – ADP – EFDM – Inside Diameter of this is 3 ΒΌ" at both ends

Hopefully I called the thingamajig and the whatchamacallit by the right names. LOL
