Default k&n air intake

hey guys. i recently bought the k&n true inake for my dale earnhardt edition 2002 monte carlo ss. i know about all the benefits of an air intake (more horsepower, better gas mileage.) i found some info on how tedious it isto clean the filter and how it actually can be bad for your engine letting in more dust and dirt. anybody have one on their car? thoughts and insight PLEASE. thanks.

As far as letting more dust and dirt into your engine, I dont beleive that is true. The filter oil does sometimes go in your engine and mess up some sensors. Thats why I always go with a dry filter instead of the filters that need to be oiled.

I have that intake and I have not experienced and problems. I check the filter about once a year and use the K&N filter recharge kit when it needs cleaing. I guess it depends on environment about when to clean the filter. My car is a show car and I don't drive it in the bad weather and it's always garage kept so I could probably go 2 years without cleaning the filter.

Love my KN filter. It's really easy to clean and you don't really have to do it that often unless you live in a dusty/dirty area. I've done mine once and I'll probably do it again in spring.

Guys,I just installed that intake for my car. I am impressed, it sounds a lot louder when I accelerate andI can really hear the kit doing its job sucking up all the extra air.I was skeptical when the box said that it added 13 hp, but now i believe it. lol

Excellent Mike, glad you like the K&N. Do you have any pics of your car and mods?
