Here is my opinion. Keep your summit racing mufflers, and put a smaller resonator...It will make it a smidge louder, and give it more tone.

Not a terrible idea. Definitely worthy of a long thought. Thanks.

Funny you ask, I've been looking this up and reading a lot of information. It seems that a glasspack is, in fact, packed with fiberglass, a resonator, however, is structurally designed the same way, minus the fiberglass packing. That being said, a resonator will not effect the tone any just quite the system down.

And I don't want to change the tips I have at all, I don't like the resonator tips.

I changed out my stock resonator which was a 18" to a 14" Magnaflow resonator. It did the trick. Gave me exactly the tone and noise level I was looking for.

I started off the same way as you, I just changed the mufflers to Magnaflows, and left the stock resonator. It was also a bit to tame, and not throaty enough for my taste. But the Magnaflow 14" honestly toned it right up to what I wanted.

Very, very good to know. This is the info I've been looking for. I'm willing to bet we both have the same resonator under our cars. Or at least did in stock form. I have to measure mine, but I think I might go with a 14-12" one too. Thanks again!

On the 6th Gen, I want to say they are even larger, like 22" maybe even 2 foot.

Mine is now a 14" from the GMPP Exhaust I think.
