Fender-well intake good? bad? both?
I have a Spectre CAI air filter on my monte (but it's more of a "WAI" right now) which is why im thinking of going the route of extending it into the fender...but ive heard mixed opinions about this and i really want to settle it once and for all.
i know that fend. well intakes are very good cuz the air is nice and cool down there, but the other argument i keep hearing (and i believe is a legit concern) is that the air filter gets wet down inside there when it rains which is bad for the engine apparently.
can anyone help shed some light on this subject? im at wits end here...

There should be no reason your filter should get wet from water. As long as you have your wheel well covers then your okay. Wheel well covers are there to prevent rocks, water, ect. to gain access to your motor. So to answer your question yes fender well CAI is perfectly fine. I actually had one in my 1988 mustang gt and I had no wheel well covers and drove through a flood and everything was fine.
Fender well intakes are very common with our cars, as it's a cheaper option and almost as good as a cold air intake.
you can either use a flex pipe or custom bent piping into the fenderwell with that same cone you have now if it'll fit.

thanks a lot everyone. im prolly gonna go with the flex pipe for now until i can get custom piping made. just so that it can get some cooler air, it really needs it since im gonna start racing it this summer.
