Default Exposing ECM

Is there any concern from anyone when installing a CAI and risk having to expose the ECM afterwards?

NOPE!! and dont worry about water in it either LOL

they are made to be a water tight componet anyways. just dont submerge them and you will be golden.

Also you can make a try for it to sit on etc...

Default RE: Exposing ECM

Well, I was concerned so I went to my favorite junkyard, Pick 'n Pull. There I found a late 90's Monte, with a near perfect ECM box bolted to the passenger side fender. After a very slight modification (cut off one angled corner), all I had to do was drill a new mounting hole to use it to mount and secure my ECM. The only other change is that the harness doesn't get routed through the normal plastic conduit, but rather a preexisting hole once 2 staples are removed allowing the top half of the box to become "hinged". There is also an nifty plastic hose with an air duct at it's end to help force cooling air into the box. With it bolted to the frame, directly under my CAI it's hard to tell it didn't come on this car.
