So you just replaced the DP, and removed the resonator, and left the rest stock? Hmmm...

What kind of effect does the resonator have other than suppressing sound? I don't want it to be loud (especially not on the inside of the car), just throaty or a low rumble.

Also any thoughts on the ZZP pipe versus the Randon Tech pipe? I was told the Random tech was a better product but really cant see why exactly.

i think you'll really like what i did, its not noisy inside the car, just a little difference, then the highflow cat made a bit a difference in sound as well

i think you'd really be happy with it, i am and its not too noisy at all

ok you say you want it somewhat quiet. and you are not going supercharger or turbo....SO:

3" exhaust is too big. if you go 3" you will loose torque!

my recomendation is this.

-Headers these will increase tq. if they werent so expensive for my Z34 i would have them ($970 only one place to get them too)
-Downpipe 2.5" with highflow cat.
-Single Muffler. if you want performance do not get flowmaster. for performance your choices are Magnaflow, dynamax, Borla.. all of these have straight thru flow design.
-option of second muffler or glasspack.
- too keep the interior sound down. you will need to run the pipe to the rear of the car. with single or dual exit.

entire system is recomended to be 2.5" this system is perfict for Non boosted applications up to 300 HP after that you may see gains by going to 2.75 or 3". but most people are fine with 2.5" also 3" will be much louder!

hope this helps
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

best gain for price right now would be a cat back system, then you do your down pipe and high flow cat, then headers.

Well I was convinced out of headers. I was told if I am going to do headers, to do them last.

I was also told the the most restrictive part of the exhaust is the downpipe and the U-bend, so i was prompted to do that first.

now i have to figure out if i want to go with a 3in or 2.50 inch down pipe and then the ZZP, or the random tech downpipe.

I'm leaning towards the ZZP because of price and I don't see the difference between it and the Random Tech. Same function in my eyes.

I'm going to do downpipe first, then the cat back, and then the headers (maybe).

Any opinions on the ZZP or the Random Tech?

3inch or 2.5??

Remember i am not supercharged.

2.5 if your staying non boost.

if you get ported heads and rockers and other advanced mods for the engine.. you may see some extra top end HP with the 3" but if your not HIGHly mod'd you will loose a good amount of torque down low with the 3 compared to 2.5. and Tq is what gets you moving!

instead of buying one already made and paying twice the money for it, you should just go to an exhaust shop and have them make it custom for you there, will be way cheaper, i checked into it when i did mine

o2 simulator??? sorry, but an exhaust shop can just put a new o2 bong in the pipe, then you dont need a simulator, just get rid of that stupid u-bend thing

I the downpipe already comes with an o2 bung welded on it. The issue is that replacing the downpipe is going to give me a SES light. Usually an o2 simulator is installed to let the PCM know that the cat is operating fine and fixes the light. But the o2 simulators on the market appearantly don't work with my 05, they only work from 2000-2003. So I'm screwed. Any others options out there? Anyone?

so i wonder if that would solve my problem on mine too since my check engine light came on, but you say they dont work on the 05, thats kinda odd, shouldn't what worked on an 03 work on an 05???
