Well if you have the money and really want the new exhaust to last I would get a Stainless Steel Megnaflow cat back system. I think you will love it.

Magnaflow doesnt make a system for 5th gen montes. No one does. The closest you can get is a stainless midpipe from O.E.M. You will still need to source mufflers and tips. I recommend the 2.5" stainless with a resonator, but they also make aluminized ones which are a bit cheaper.

You just have to route it around the spare tire well thats all. If you want to run mufflers, they wont fit in the center, there is only room off to the sides of the tire well. You could always run them a little further towards the front of the car, just enough to leave room to rout the exhaust after it exits the mufflers towards the center of the car.

im just thinkin about runnin no mufflers because its not too loud. matt you're running your exhaust in the stock position right? just in a larger diameter?

Yup, the new exhaust is made as a direct replacement to the stock system just larger diameter.

I dont know what kind of performance gains I got with it. I do notice that it pulls harder at redline than it did before. It will get a little squirly during a full throttle downshift if you dont hold on tight to the wheel. That could be a combination of the intake and the exhaust tho because I did them both pretty close together. Sound wise it makes the tone alot deeper, but I still need to put a resonator back in to get rid of the drone while cruising. You cant beat the WOT sound tho. No other V6 has the same WOT exhaust note that the LQ1 has and the mufflers and exhaust just unleashes the sound. Its like ear splitting-ly loud when you mash the gas and thats with a converter, silencer and two mufflers. I wouldnt want it any louder. I do plan on using some mandrel bent stainless piece I have stashed away at work to make a nice stainless DP with a high flow cat in the future. If anything the downpipe is the biggest restriction in the exhaust system so I hope to free up some extra power there.

yeah i remember when i first got my monte. it was 100% stock and after about 4k rpm it sounded like a v8 lol. but when i cut my mufflers off it didnt make it too loud. just loud enough to be heard. idk if he is a member on here but there is a guy with a black z34 that has pretty much built a na monster. his screen name is phoenix z34 i think. and on his website he has an exhaust vid and it sounds meannnn. best sounding 3.4 imo
