Default Exhaust on a budget

I've been browsing some old threads reading about cat-back exhausts, mufflers, glasspacks and resonator deletes. My current one is stock and pretty rusty from harsh MN winters, and I don't have the money to do a full catback exhaust (oh how I wish). I want a little more growl and less whine. I've heard about our engines (3800) sounding raspy at certain rpms, but I think I'd be ok with that (aftermarket stereo system does help with that). I also just want to do away with the old, ugly resonator. What would be the avg cost of doing so, versus, say, a glasspack? And what are some good brands to go with that aren't outrageously expensive? Pros and cons of glasspack v. resonator delete?

Deleting the Res:

Pro: stainless pipe won't break or rust and will be cheaper.

Con: Could be a little raspy when combined with other exhaust changes.

Can someone post some pics of what this looks like? And what a downpipe installed would look like? I'm kinda lost under there.

The u-bend delete comes with the downpipe right?

I'm surprised it is so cheap.

Thanks mike! That helps me a lot. I now know I have a hole in the resonator. Lol been debating on what to get for an exhaust as well. If I don't have to pass emissions should I go with a Catless downpipe?

Don't mean to hijack this,
