Edelbrock results on a 1977 Monte Carlo help please
I just blew about 200 dollars on brake work on my monte that was much needed, I just wanted to know that I wouldn't have to take off tires unless I wanted new rims or something. Now I want to improve performance. I went to autozone and advance auto and the edelbrock intake manifolds and air filter caught my eye. How great of an increase in performance would it give my monte? I was thinking of starting small with the air intake that run for about 20-40 dollars since my room mate keeps telling me about the sound air intakes make on cars and I think it would be cool to put one on my monte. If you guys could go into detail about that sound it would be great, but I'm really wondering how much of a difference these edelbrock parts would have on my monte regarding gas mileage and performance. If I were to change my air filter with an edelbrock air filter would I notice the significant difference or would I have to buy the carb, intake, and air filter to notice little to any difference?

It really depends a LOT on what engine you have, but if you only replace the air filter you're not going to notice much difference power wise. You need to look at what others have done with their engines and see what works for them. A bigger carb isn't always better, and usually (again, depends on the setup) your carb should flow twice the number of cubic inches your engine has (350 v8 ~ 700cfm).
But before we can help you any further, we need to know what's under your hood.
