Default CAI from Cold Air Inductions

I bought a used CAI from a member here about 2 years ago through E-bay and recently found that part of the lexan see-thru plastic has come loose and I'm guessing just fell out of the CAI box and onto the road after coming loose. I just figured I'd make a thread about the issue with mine for any other members who may also have one. It is not a major issue and I'm not at all trying to start any issues about that.

Here is a recent pic, please be aware of this if you also have a CAI from Cold Air Inductions........

I have recently bought a new CAI from Cold Air Inductions that is gonna be powder coated black.......

dude, dont tell me your ordering a new one just to replace the lexan piece ... go to walmart, find the thickest/ clearest tupperware or storage container you can, get some double sided tape and fix it ...

then while its out ... find some rustoleum or other specialty paint to paint the one you have instead of spending another 300 bucks ...

you might have to experiment for a while to find a high heat paint that wont chip or bake off that close to the exhaust ... but i guarantee to it wouldnt cost more than 30 bucks to fix that one and paint it ...

obviously clean it, then rough up the stainless with some 300-500 grit ... and you could probably even find a gloss black, satin ... whatever you want ...

dont waste your money

Even replacement Lexan isn't prohibitively expensive. Good luck.

That sucks Chris - but congrats on the new CAI - you bought it already powder coated right?

I know the price to replace is pretty high, but I want a new one that's already powder coated. I will most likely try and sell the old one to anyone who may be interested at a fair price after I get the new one installed!

I removed that piece on purpose

And it was extremely hard to remove! I can't believe it just fell out. Weird...
