Default 3.4 Engine - MagnaFlow CAT

I have a 2004 Monte Carlo LS with 3.4 engine.
  • Has any used this CAT on a 3.4 Monte Carlo?
  • Does this have the U-Bend delete?

I have not used that one, but pending the pic is correct, it has a U-Bend delete (you can see in one pic the bung for the O2 to go into). Since it's a complete downpipe with CAT, I would assume it deletes the U-bend (other wise they would have to put it back since the U-bend is part of the factory down pipe and this is a bolt on solution).

I vote, GO FOR IT!

BTW - Magnaflow is a common and trusted manufacturer for CATs. I see no issue there.

Im running the magnaflow on my 00 LS. It does delete the u bend. I haven't had any issues with mine, but its only been on for a few thousand miles.

Thanks for the replies. I was not sure if it the pic was correct and wanted to see if someone actually bought this CAT before. Never can trust the pic. I think this is a good price for this seeing as it is a complete downpipe with CAT. I don't know of any other downpipe that would be considered "highflow".... don't think there is such a thing..... unless you run a downpipe without the CAT...

For a 3400, I'm not sure anyone makes a DP with a high flow cat.... But there may be someone out there that does....

But this does not seem like a bad deal at all. Nice bolt in solution.

Here are my pics of the new MagnaFlow downpipe with measurements. It is 2.5" OD / 2.34" ID pipe..... but the flex joint is a different style that necks down in two spots to 2.155" OD / 2" ID. The CAT does not neck down and looks to be concentric to the 2.5" OD pipe.

The entire exhaust system is comprised of (from engine back)
  • headers w/ cross over pipe
  • downpipe w/ CAT
  • resonator
  • muffler(s)
  • tips
I think your Magnaflow CAT back exhaust might include a resonator. Other brands may opt to delete the resonator completely.

Here is what I found... is this what you bought?
MagnaFlow

Any exhaust system that is called a "CAT back" is a complete replacement system starting at the connection of thye CAT (not including the CAT. If you want to replace the stock downpipe that has the U-Bend and stock CAT then you have the following options:

3400 Downpipes

May I ask how easy this was to install? Noticing any performance difference? If I can ask, how much did you pay and where did you buy? Thanks!
