i would like to have a nice rumble for my 1998 3.1L. i dont want a rice burner sound or a over power sound for the little guy, just a nice rumble. any ideas for a exhaust? thanks for all your help!!!

 

Could be wrong but arnt 3400s pretty much upgraded 3100s? If you find someone with a nice exhaust on a 3400 you could ask them, easy way is too look it up on youtube, theres some nice grand ams with 3100s that have some good exhaust videos on youtube also

 

Stock exhaust with a flowmaster 40 sounds great on a 3100.

 

Here is a video from a 93 Z24 cavalier with the 3.1 and a flowmaster delta 40 muffler. Older engine but i imagine you'd get a similar sound (correct me if i'm wrong) Flowmaster 40 on Z24 - YouTube

stock pipes with a cherry bomb turbo muffler lol sounds good on my buddies 95 ls monte

 

I have a 3.4, so I'm going to vary a bit, but I recently did a Y pipe into dual Mangaflows...it sounds AMAZING. At idle it has a great rumble, it's almost stock when driving, but once it hits 3k RPMs it sounds STRONG (powerful). When it's cold especially, you'd think it's a V8.

 

straight pipe :p....jk i would do either magnaflows or flowmaster mufflers

 

I heard a mid 90s Grand Prix with the 3.1l with an exhaust..it sounded surprisingly good. Goo Magnaflow.
