Default 2001 Monte Carlo SS

I have a 01 monte ss 3800 series 2. I recently put a cold air intake on it. And over the past month my gas mileage has decreased a lot. I have no idea why. I'm not running the car or anything. But the gas mileage is just horrible compared to the stock air box. Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts? Thank you!

Could be because of the heat off the motor is it a short air intake?

Hey, I think tour new so welcome! What brand of Cold air intake a is it? Have you done any other mods? Perhaps re-setting your pcm into learning mode is in order.

Yes it is short ram. Just a tube with a bend and a filter at the end. I think it's called L3 performance. I didn't have the money for a expensive cold air kit. But I noticed even cruising on the highway the gas mileage is not what it used to be. I have not done any other mods. And what does it mean to put the PCM in learning mode? Thank you for the replies!

Short ram intakes are bogus. They give you "more power" in the lower ranges. But overall they give a performance loss and reduce your gass milage (cause they suck HOT air) putting your stock airbox back In should fix the problem. Learning mode happens when you disconect your battery for a certain amout of time. 30. Mins I think.

And if you just like the look of the air intake and want to be able to see it so you don't have to put the factory box back in you can buy a clear box online it's made of fiberglass and looks badass if I must say
