Would you buy this 2000 Pace Car
I just need some advice from other owners of Pace Car editions or owners of Monte Carlos. I am looking for a weekend car that I can enjoy. There is a 2000 Pace Car clean condition for sale in my area, but has 201,000 miles. He is asking $2,500. Everything is original and he just had the transmission rebuilt. I realize the high milage probably kills the value, but it appears that it is priced right for the milage.
I just need some advice from anybody who has time to respond. My new toy needs to be reasonable due to the economy.
Thanks

I, personally, just paid $4200 for an '02 SS. Which, is basically the same as the 00 pace car. Mine has 237,000 on it. Granted, I have a new(er) engine/tranny in it with around 70,000 on em. Everything else on the car has held up rather well.
As long as everything works, and she runs smooth, I say go for it! Monte's are wonderfully fun to drive, and to look at. Perfect weekend car! You'll definitely enjoy!

We need pics on this deal. Keep in mind, the '00 Monte Pace Car has:
- A unique red/black interior (including steering wheel)
- The traditional Pace Car badging
- GM's 3800 v6, known for being a really reliable drive train. Lower Intake gaskets are the biggest issue (and not hard to change out if you are handy with a wrench).
If I were you, I'd look it over. Lay on the ground and LOOK under the car to see how the floor pans and frame members look. If the car was well taken care of, this sounds like it could be a great deal! ChibiBlackSheep has a '00 Monte SS that has been with his family since it rolled off the show room floor and he's well over 170,000 miles, the car looks great, and even better when you know the mileage.
I have not checked KBB.com on this '00 Pace Car, but it sounds like it's being priced fair. Do a CarFax and ASK for proof on the trans work. I know the Bonneville guys will say properly maintained, that 3800 will go beyond 300,000 miles.
Good luck and hope you can share some more pics.
