Who do you Trust ?
No offense people but it's only a car... Yeah I don't stand on the street corner asking people if they wanna drive it but sheesh!
My previous Monte was loaned out a handful of times to good friends and a relative while their cars were being repaired. Can't tell you the number of times I've loaned out my truck, the Z28 has even been borrowed a time or two. My current Monte went to FL with my girlfriend during Christmas because I didn't want her driving her POS that far alone. As a matter of fact my mom is using the Monte right now... while I have her Impala. I do so because I know these people will be there for me if and when I need something
I'm very protective of my cars, and the people close to me know that. The only rule I have for them is to treat it like it's MINE... not treat it like it's yours. They understand and do so. Haven't had any problems so far and it usually comes back with a full tank and some extra $$ in the console.

That's EXACTLY why you need to loan it out, so more people see what it's all about.
That being said I can see why some of our younger members won't loan out their car. Thinking back to my high school days I can pretty safely say that there weren't many people I went to school with that I would feel comfortable driving my car. But as an adult now... there aren't many of my good friends that I wouldn't trust. As I said those people now how I am about my vehicles and they know how I expect them to be treated.

Trust + Respect
4-Sure

My grandfather taught me to never borrow anything from
anyone unless I'm in the position to replace or fix
anything that could happen to what is borrowed.
I'm always super cautious & nervous when I use someone
elses vehicle or equipment.
I respect others, that respect themselves & their
possessions.
I've challenged my grandfathers teachings, but I've
had a difficult time disproving the wisdom of his
instructions...He speaks true & walks his `talk.
I continue to learn as I travel my journey of `life.
4-Sure.
Thanks `Brian & Member's for your contributions
on this subject.

I trust my parents and wife to drive it. Never my sister. How she burns the front tires off of a 2.4 liter Alero, I will never know.
I trust no one to park it in a parking lot (except myself)!
Sometimes I need to circle a little while to find the perfect spot if there is no spot out in the back forty.

I hope you (reading this) many trustful people in your `life...
Abraham Lincoln:
If you once forfeit the confidence of your fellow citizens, you can never regain their respect and esteem. It is true that you may fool all of the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all of the time; but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
Where large sums of money are concerned, it is advisable to trust nobody.
Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.
Trust only movement. Life happens at the level of events, not of words. Trust movement.
Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.
Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do.
Few things help an individual more than to place responsibility upon him, and to let him know that you trust him.
A man who doesn't trust himself can never really trust anyone else.
Trust no one unless you have eaten much salt with him.
There is one safeguard known generally to the wise, which is an advantage and security to all, but especially to democracies as against despots. What is it? Distrust.
One must be fond of people and trust them if one is not to make a mess of life.
Who would not rather trust and be deceived?
To sit patiently with a yearning that has not yet been fulfilled, and to trust that, that fulfillment will come, is quite possibly one of the most powerful "magic skills" that human beings are capable of. It has been noted by almost every ancient wisdom tradition.
The inability to open up to hope is what blocks trust, and blocked trust is the reason for blighted dreams.
Hope is both the earliest and the most indispensable virtue inherent in the state of being alive. If life is to be sustained hope must remain, even where confidence is wounded, trust impaired.
Trust everybody, but cut the cards.
You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you don't trust enough.
To be trusted is a greater compliment than to be loved.
Never trust a husband too far, nor a bachelor too near.
I think we may safely trust a good deal more than we do.
I think that we may safely trust a good deal more than we do.
You can't shake hands with a clenched fist.
You must train your intuition -- you must trust the small voice inside you which tells you exactly what to say, what to decide.
Trust him not with your secrets, who, when left alone in your room, turns over your papers.
There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty.
We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.
No matter how deep a study you make. What you really have to rely on is your own intuition and when it comes down to it, you really don't know what's going to happen until you do it.
We will be a better country when each religious group can trust its members to obey the dictates of their own religious faith without assistance from the legal structure of their country.
A good marriage is at least 80 percent good luck in finding the right person at the right time. The rest is trust.
He got a corporation mind. He don't believe in nature; he puts his trust and distrust in man.
The leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say "I." And that's not because they have trained themselves not to say "I." They don't think "I." They think "we"; they think "team." They understand their job to be to make the team function. They accept responsibility and don't sidestep it, but "we" gets the credit. This is what creates trust, what enables you to get the task done.
The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship. (adapted)
Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string.
Our distrust is very expensive.
Self-trust is the first secret of success.
What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.

I have no fear that the result of our experiment will be that men may be trusted to govern themselves without a master.
Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government.
Love all, trust a few.
