Whine on acceleration?
#11
I do remember reading that somewhere. But I made a special point to have Chevy check what they thought the whine was when the car went in for some sensor replacements the other day, and they said on their receipt that it wasn't a problem and there weren't any issues.
That said, I don't want to rule out the possibility...is there any way I can visually check the alternator on my own? What signs am I looking for that it's going bad?

Yeah, I'll try and get one up here later today.

Yes to the first part. It becomes a higher pitch the higher the RPMs go.

This is my car. I took this video this afternoon. It definitely sounds like something having to do with the belts...hence me focusing on them the whole time.

buy a new serpentine belt, if its stretched it will squeal, if it sounds like a supercharger then its your tranny. Alternators dont just slowly go out, they either work or dont work, if it dont work it, then your car wont run. Power steering pump should only make noise when your turning and that wont get louder just because you get on the gas. if your giong in a straight line acceleration and it gets louder with more rpm, its only one of two things. stretched serpentine belt or tranny to have looking at.
