Question wheel sizes

Ive been looking at maybe upgrading my wheels on the "03 SS Pace car, it has the stock 16" diamond cut wheels that it came with. how do I know what size wheel I can go up to? I don't want to do stupid 22's etc just maybe 17" or 18" to fill the wheel well a lil better and look good! I have been looking at the American Racing Torq-thrust M in the Anthracite color? thought that might look cool with my blue and grey theme Monte? any one seen these on one? also what size, like if I wanted 17"" wheels with maybe just a little more tire width than stock? offset? etc? don't want any tire rub etc, this all confuses me ?? lol!!! thanks!!!
