Hi `Jack, I like you avatar
I believe it is 112 MPH > That's what it is on a SuperCharged Monte.

Car and Driver
by Ron Kiino - We're talking about the Chevy Monte Carlo--specifically, the NASCAR race car, Little E.'s winning ... respectively, than the numbers put up by a standard SS("Low-Impact Sports," September 2002). ... Top speed (governor limited): 112 mph
I thought the SS's were limited at around 120? I have an
'01 SS and only have a CAI and an aftermarket cat with no other mods and no supercharger and I can hit 120 with no problem. It almost acted like it wanted to go above 120 the last time but I backed off while racing a Mazda.
Were those specs for the LS or the SS?

Does it matter where it was made? I believe mine was made in Canada does that have any bearing on the governor at all?
I know mine does have a governor 'cause I have hit it and it cut off the gas (I think) or was it the spark? Anyways it kind of pitches you forward when the governor kicks in which on mine was at 120.

Hi `Jack,
I don't know , but hopefully one of our expert tech member's will answer when they see your post
Maybe your Speedo is `off (LOL) & maybe some Monte's are just faster then other's (LOL)...
Check back on this thread & hopefully we both will have an answer (?) Maybe ? *Note, I've never owned a Monte Carlo > I'm just here because there are good people here & lots of Super Rides >

OK that is weird 'cause that says 112 MPH limited for the supercharged SS. Mine is not supercharged and I know I have it had it to 120.

How do you guys know you are hitting 140 and 150+mph? I believe my 98 only goes up to 115mph on the speedometer. I have done about 105 before at night but I had my gf in the car with me and the front end of the car felt too light so I didn't wanna push it especially with her in there with me. The fastest I have ever driven myself was 158. But that was in a different car that couldn't go any faster.
