Default What would you give for this

Hey everyone, so I have just been running through the idea of selling my car and getting something a bit more powerful. I love the look of the Monte but the fact that my trans has been acting up recently (been fine within the last few weeks) so I need to replace that which I had planned on doing anyway. But then to get more power you almost have to go with a $6,000 turbo kit to get some decent power. You can do things like take all the DOD parts out, put a larger cam in, new intake, TB, etc. But you still won't gain a ton of power with just that. So like I said, I'm just running through the idea of selling it. I know a lot of people have asked this question recently, but every car is different, what do you think I could get for my car? Here are some pics

I don't have any pictures of the interior but I do think it is in near perfect condition. The interior smells like what you would hope interior would. There is no BO smell, also me nor the previous owner smoke so there is no smoke smell which is always a plus. It is a 2 owner car, the previous owner got it new and I purchased it with 58k miles. It now has 61k Miles. Has tires that only have about 3k miles on them. Trans fluid was changed when I got the car at about 59K miles. oil has been changed 2 times since I have had it and will be getting changed again in about 500 miles. It is running on synthetic oil. suspension is good. That's about all I can think of, like I said earlier I had been running into an issue with my trans where it would not engage when you hit the gas from a stop and then it would suddenly slam into gear. Somone recommended that my trans fluid may be a little low. I checked it and it looked good but I did add just a little bit and it hasn't done it since. So maybe I was a little low. That's pretty much it. Let me know your opinions on what it would be worth. Kelley blue book says it's worth about $12,200-$12,500 for the condition that I think it's in. It's not perfect, but I would say it is very good. Do you guys think I could maybe squeeze out a little more from somone? or do you think that would be pretty much about all I could get. I owe $11,000 on it so I would like to get at least $12,000 so I could put a down payment on a car (if I sold this, still not sure what I'm going to do) but the more I can get the better.

I saw a similar post median price was about $14,000 - That trans may be an issue though.

If you ask 14k then you have room to bargain down if you have a hard time selling it. I hear Montes sell fast though

That's what I'm thinking. And that's strange how a car can be, I guess not that popular, but still sell crazy fast. I guess it's because when people see them they get drawn in by some amazing body lines. Also I am worried about the trans, but since I added that little bit of trans fluid it hasn't done it since, and that was like 2-3 weeks ago. Before that once it started doing that, it did it almost everytime I drove it while it was cold. So I'm assuming it was just a trans fluid issue. When I had the fluid changed (about 3k miles ago or so) there were no metal shavings or anything in the pan, you wouldn't think a trans could go from looking and driving pretty much perfect as far as a trans goes, to failing all withing 3k miles. Especially when I have been babying it knowing that the transmissions were weak in these cars. So, I assume it's better now. But I know you never really know that until you actually actually open up the trans and take a look. Anyway, thanks for the input Tad. It's something that I'm not really sure on what I want to do. Honestly had I known that I could afford a car in this price range, I would have looked around some more. I love the car, but it's not really my favorite car in the world. I have been thinking about going with a GTO recently though. I saw one at the car show that I forget to get a picture of. But it was gorgeous, had a big cam, supercharged, man it was amazing. Every time I see one, I want one more and more. I have some thinking to do.

I also want a GTO. But I love the montes so much. I'm keeping red and gonna go with a 2006 GTO when she is paid off. The LS2's are 400hp and the ls1's are 350. Ls1's run 8-10 ls2's run 11+

The Interiors are a lot more spartan and the suspension is not as nice as the montes.

The Monte's interior isn't anything special either. It looks nice, but there is still a lot of plastic and other cheaper materials. And yea the GTO's are a big boat. They really need some after market suspension work. But they look good, and man are they fast lol. Another option would be to go with an older Vette, something like a 2000 corvette you can get for under $20,000 which isn't to bad for a vette.

I actauly found a 2001 c5 for $10,000 in my craigs list adventures. (Had to call the guy and ask the guy if it was real) Unfortunatly I had just bought my monte but that was a damn good price for that car. Like tad said, goats are cool, and more unique than a corvette. Also cheaper.

Your not saying a stock GTO will run 10's and 11's right? I would bet they had to put a few thousand into them to get there. And then remember when you play with that kind of power things will break... repeatedly. All of our cars are money traps, might as well put a few G's into your Monte and have a unique car...
