What would win in a race
#33
I'll play along here... Will the Monte win? I believe it will why? Okay here's why...
Monte:
240hp
280lb-ft tq
3,522lbs
0-60: 6.7s
Mustang:
225hp
300lb-tq
3,193lbs
0-60: 6.4s
Does the Mustang have the upper hand? Yes, HOWEVER what you guys fail to notice is that the Mustang had 1 huge flaw. Traction, the Mustang was always the car that made the worst traction among the muscle cars. That's where the Monte has it's advantage, the Monte is FWD so considering that it has all the weight being distributed to the front wheels making traction much easier where as the Mustang is RWD and has no weight in the rear end and has so much torque that on take off it will just spin the tires no matter how hard you try not to. It's a drivers race for sure but in the end, the Monte will win.
That being said.... here's a better question for you guys:
2004 Monte Carlo SS SuperCharged
VS
1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP COUPE
I'll let that simmer

jwjones, you're Monte specs are spot on according to my sources, but your Mustang specs are from an 87 GT (although your weight was about right) and not from an 86 GT like the OP was requesting.
1986 Mustang GT:
200hp
285 ft lbs
In the end, both cars run high 14's so it's a driver's race.
Between the Monte and the GTP, they're almost the exact same car. Both are Gen 2 W-body's with the only differences being mostly cosmetic. In that race, it's more important to be the better driver.

I agree with that. I think the Monte will win by the way
