Default What is a Monte Carlo?

for awhile, browsing this forum for the last 5 months, I have wondered what is a Monte Carlo.

one can argue older montes are muscle. but I never see 6th gen montes referred to as muscle, even if they are an SS/supercharged. I know it's a bit of a silly question, but what would be your best explanation as to what a (new) MC is?

I saw in another thread someone (can't remember) said it wasn't a muscle car, but it isn't a general purpose grocery getter.

again, I don't know a whole lot about new cars in general so I'm probably missing something real obvious. just a question I had in the back of my mind.

I guess you could call it a full size/intermediate sporty coupe.

Without being RWD and v8 powered, I have trouble saying the 5th-7th gens are true "muscle cars". Powerful, fun to drive, absolutely! Muscle, not so much.

Kinda like Amy said, a sporty full size two door....

GM calls it a Luxury Sport coupe. All generations.

Other people re-classified them to suit their own taste.

I call the Chevrolet Monte Carlo a way of Life...
It's a choice It's an addiction & to me it's a personal `Touring coupe & some models are "Performance Touring Coupes" 4-Sure

*Friends or Family can even be comfortable in the rear seats ....Monte's aren't for everyone, but the one's that choose them are wise investor's in their automotive investment & choice 4-Sure

I would go with "A luxury sport Coupe" also. Although some lean more to "high performance luxury sport coupe" after they have been modded

Yeah Chevy shat the bed there with the FWD V6's. That could've been the LT's, but at least make the SS RWD Big block 350:p
