Hey guys - There's a monte that recently showed up in my area, and the ad says that it's a limited edition.
First off, I wasn't aware that there even was a limited edition version of the MC.
Secondly, what does the limited edition mean?

Lots of limited edition montes. Pace cars and driver cars are limited edition. Just means they only made a select few. My Intimidator is limited edition as it is build number 81 of 4000.

There are also Other Limited Edition models that weren't pace cars or driver editions. I think the 02/03 SS hi-sport Montes had limited edition on the speedometer.

 

Mine is a Limited Edition... Limited Editions were a non numbered ss and still Limited in production... It comes only in the ss version and includes the Nascar Spoiler and the Hi-Sport package... Also, Hi-Sport package is painted the same colour as car

 

Awesome, thanks for the replies. From the few pics I've seen, this one doesn't look any special - it has the Limited Edition on the speedometer and that's about it from all i can tell.
Are all limited editions numbered?

You're right, forgot to mention that the instrument panel is also marked as "Limited Edition"... They are not numbered...

 

Not always the case. Some had the galaxy silver trim. I looked at a black '02 limited with silver trim. Amy's 03 came with silver as well. I believe it may have been an option, but I'm not totally sure.

 

I looked at a red 06 with silver trim, not limited edition

 

A larger amount of the time "Limited Edition" is someone reading it off the speedo. And a big part of that time, it's because the car had the High Sport package (which is a nicer set of ground effects and the vertical spoiler).

But as stated earlier, there ARE infact some limited edition Montes that really were limited edition. The Pace Cars and NASCAR Signature Series to name a few.

I think if it were a true "limited edition", it would be fairly easy to spot, it was have more then a speedo telling you (such as it would have the Pace Car pieces OR promote a NASCAR driver).

 

Limited edition models were also equipped with the upgraded computer select sport suspension (RPO FE3/6KT/7KT/8JA/9JA) and light weight brake package (RPO JB9).
