What is the funniest comment you've ever heard anyone say about your car?
How hard was it to get that V8 into the car?
Son: dad what kind of car is that?
Dad: it's a cobal son
Me: Don't even think that
Lady taking a picture of the deuce:
Is that a 2014 monte?
Dude at car show : I like the smaller Montes like yours
Me: they only came in one size
Dude: no they made a 4 door too
Me: your thinking of the Impalla
Dude : no they made an 06 4 door Monte
Me: walked away shaking my head

I have had several people tell me I have a great looking Impala. When I tell them it's a Monte Carlo they either say that they didn't know the Monte Carlo came in an SS or that they didn't know they made the Monte Carlo after the 4th gen. People are crazy sometimes haha
when i first got it i picked one of my buddies up from school, he got in, took a deep breath and said "Ahh, wow your car smells like my aunt's house!". i think he meant it in a good way though, lol.
When I first purchased my Monte Carlo after the Mods, I took it to a local car show (Won 1st place in my class) in Modified Stock Class.
I had a 2 cpls ask me...
What Kinda car is that? I heard someone else say, as they asked..
(get this) Its the new Cadillac!
Naturally I pointed to the lettering on the Lower rear quarter panel...
I couldn't help Laughing as I pointed to it...
Great story Tad!

One of the more ridiculous conversations I had was with a guy at a cruise-in who thought he knew more than I did about my own car...
Guy: That V8 isn't factory, you put that in there.
Me: Yes it is factory.
Guy: No it's not, the Monte Carlos all had V6's.
Me: No, the V8 was standard in the SS for 2006 and 2007. The car came from the factory like that with the V8.
Guy: No it didn't, they had V6's.
Me: Yes, that IS factory.
...at that point I wasn't going to argue with the guy anymore. He was so animate that the V8 was not factory. I can't remember word for word exactly what was said, but that was basically what transpired.
Actually young kids seem to know what a Monte Carlo is more than most adults do. Even with the front end of the 2006-07 Monte being very similar to the 06-13 Impala, kids are still quick to point it out as a Monte Carlo. Since they talk louder, I will usually hear the "look at that Monte Carlo" line from kids all the time at shows, etc.
A lot of what I get isn't even said out loud but read from people's reactions.
One I get pretty much all the time is a lot of people will stand at the front of the car and stare at the engine for what seems like an eternity, glance at the front end with a confused look on their face, maybe go back and forth between the engine and car, then do a slow walk around back to see what kind of car it is. Even when I'm sitting right there, it's like they're on their own mission to figure out (a) if the V8 is suppose to be there, and (b) what kind of car it is.
Another one I get is guys, usually older men, literally burying their faces into the engine compartment like they're trying to figure out what the deal is with the V8 in the car. From what I've seen over the past few years, most people assume these 2006-07 SS's still had a V6 and are surprised and stunned to find a V8 under the hood.
I get a kick out of it.

one of the best ones i got was when i was at the gas station. i pulled up to the pump and got out and the older guy beside me looks at me shakes his head and goes "nothing but noise pollution". i smiled and said if you feel that way good for you but until you know what has been done i suggest not speaking and then ask him if he wanted to race for slips just to be a a$$ lol. he was in a pontiac g5 haha he ignored me and left
i also get from kids "look a race car"
i get told its wrong wheel drive a lot
i get asked what kind of car it is a lot, written on the windshield and on the trunk lol

The V8 confusion is one reason I had 5.3L LS4 painted in the spyder stripe on the hood
Back in my racing days Mustang GT owners where devastated because they thought they just got beat by a 6 cyl.
