Want to make my '03 3400SFi Fast!
Hello, fellow monte-goers!
So, my question is quite simple, yet potentially complex;
I have a 2003 Monte Carlo 3.4L (3400 SFi) and am looking to make it "FAST!"
By fast, I mean a reasonable speed. I'm not looking to -attempt- to make this a 9s 1/4, but I would appreciate 12s-13s 1/4's.
So, the question is;
Where should I begin?!
What should I start tuning, what shouldn't I begin with?!
I'm not looking to break the bank. I'm only interested in making my baby quick and speedy, not amazing.
(I will be doing all the work on my vehicle and am not afraid to get my hands dirty, or have to put in hours.)
Thanks in advance!
-Caleb.

If you want serious performance, pulling the 3400 and dropping in a 3800 is the better road to take.
But if you are just looking for some small/simple mods that are cheap and will give a little power, here's the thread for you:

FYI - Tuning should be after you are done with all of your mods.

12 seconds in the 1/4 is no easy task. Do you have any restrictions that you're working with? An l67 swap with some bolt ons and a gutted car would get you there, but if you're set on your current engine, or if you're not ok stripping the car to shed weight, then youd be forced to go a different route.
If you want to keep your current engine and a full interior, then maybe some drag radials and a big shot of spray would be a better alternative.
Regardless, I don't see times like that happening NA. You're going to need an engine swap or some type of power adder to get there.
