Default Vinyl Top options.

Okay so I'm looking into buying a 70 Monte Carlo and it currently has the provisions for the vinyl top, but it is the type where the top ends about an inch from the windshield and the drip moldings.
Now I've seen some tops that were a "traditional" style that the top went under the drip molding and to the windshield and down the a-pillar.
Did first gens come with different Vinyl Top options?
Do I need different drip molding trim in order to do the vinyl top the "traditional" way?
Where can I find the lower/side trim that goes along the top of the Quarter?

I owned a 72 Monte Carlo for a short time in late 71 when they first came out, that one had the space in the front and also along the sides. It was Black with Black vinyl roof. I sold it and Bought a Chevelle with out a vinyl roof. I had a cousin that had a White 70 with a vinyl roof and it had the space as well, most of the ones I see have the space around it.
I think the vinyl roofs when they went down the front pillar would rust out that area on Chevelles so they may have made that change then but I also have seen 1st Gen. Camaro's with the space around the vinyl roof too. I think the correct look would be with the space around it.

I'm pretty sure the 70 and 71 had the space and the 72 came to the windshield. My 72 had an original black vinyl top with no space.
