To the V8 owners of MCF:
Monte's in winter
Pro-FWD=easier to get around, power when you want it, heavier = better traction, very reliable in cold weather
Cons- not much ground clearance, nowhere to pull if you do get stuck, not 4x4
as far as the monte in general, i wouldn't own any other car. (hence i've had 3)

I've only driven one RWD car in winter and that was my 1985 Impala and honestly it wasnt too bad, the only time I had issues was turning corners and when giving it gas a bit if it was snowy or icy id spin and go sideways a bit
I would think A nice ss monte would be a good purchase. In a few more years an 06 or 07 should come down a bit more. You should be able to get a nice one for around 8 to 10 grand. As far as bad weather driving it is all a matter of how you drive.
i've only had my 06 SS for a month now but i'll offer my $0.02
When i started shopping for a DD muscle car the mustangs and camaros were automatically removed from my list due to the fact they only seat 2 in the back. (I needed 3)
The Challenger seats 3 in the back, but as for price they were just about twice as much and thats only for a base model with a few options. 8cyl models were way out of my $ range.
The MC SS 7th gen are very nicely loaded with options. Leather, sunroof, remote start etc.
As for snow i havent had the pleasure yet (i do have snow tires though) however i used to drive a 94 mustang with snows and it did ok.
Like everyone says, its how you drive.
I really think for the price a MC SS is a great buy.
But they are rare, at least in Canada, cause I had a hard time finding one that i liked.
Mustangs on the other hand are plentiful and easy to find.

I'll be happy with a 7th gen SS.Its good all around in my opinion(I drive a crap ton of cars)
As far as winter driving goes it all depends on what your comfortable driving.
I drive a 2wd 5speed peg leg pick up with next to no weight in the back.Never had any problem I think it's bet than any of the fwd cars i've driven but just me.
