Default Used headlight question

I've been trying to obtain a replacement headlight for my grandpa's '87 LS Euro. The lens on his headlight was broken and it won't pass inspection without it. Is there a cheaper way to replace the headlight that doesn't involve buying the whole assembly? Is there a way to just replace the lens?

If he has to buy the whole headlight assembly, are there any issues we should be aware of with buying something used? I've come across a few Monte Carlo websites that have used headlights, but they don't state what condition they are in. At least on eBay the sellers typically state the condition, like if it has a cracked lens.

Umm... I don't think it's that easy, but I could be wrong. I was under the impression that an '87 LS Euro used a composite headlight and that those were kind of rare (they're not in production). The composite headlight assembly costs around $100 used. Grandpa was hoping he could just replace the broken lens, rather than buy the whole darn thing. I can't find where it's possible to replace just the lens, but I was hoping someone here knew something that we don't. With the way grandpa drives and lives, he'll probably end up busting another lens, which is why we were hoping to find something cheaper.

thats not what hes looking for . that will fit a standard nose or ss nose car. he has an ls. it has a plastic head light assembly that holds a bulb in it. not a sealed beam.

unfortunately you may have to just pay the money for one. or go trolling around the junkyards. im not sure if the headlight assembly from an oldsmobile cutlass supreme 87-88 will fit, but it may help broaden your search. i had one and they looked almost identical.

for reference here are the header panels of each.

no messenger killing. sorry if my tone seemed off, and i am the monte man. i know the 4th gen ls guys hate there lives when they have to hunt down these headlights. you would think someone wouldve started remanufacturing them or something by now. its been an ongoing problem for a decade.
