Default The ultimate Question

Ok, i have been in the process for saving to buy a newer monte, and im stuck on the ultimate question. 6th gen or 7th gen ss Im currently leaning towards the 6th gen. My other question, is one year better than the other to get, like is the 05 better than the 04 for some reason or the 07 better than the 06. Im just looking for second opinions here, also once i do get a new car i plan to sell (might have to give away) my 5th gen. Would make a good winter car for anyone interested. Thanks for the input guys

The 05SS is supercharged, not every 04SS is supercharged.

The 05 also has no keyhole for the trunk (a plus AND a minus) and it doesn't have the side door guards. The 05 also is a touch different to tune, as the rear o2 sensor does read a few more parameters I believe.

Personally I think a supercharged 04 is a better buy. The door guards do a great justice to the car if you daily drive it, and though a trunk keyhole looks better not there, having access to your trunk is nice.

The 06 SS is the better buy, because you can diablosport tune that.

I think that's all I can think of right now

^^^This. However, for the kind of money that it takes to make decent power, you can really hook up the 3800 Series II.

Thanks mike thats the little tid bits i was looking for. Im leaning on the 6th gen because of the huge aftermarket they have. Probably be a bit cheaper to get as well.

Definitely, I like them better too

If you don't mind NA, stick with 03+. They have the harder 4th gear parts.

I was just going to mention that - don't go pre-03 if you can help it for the trans difference. Personally I would go with an 04.

The 06-07s are nice (especially the SS) but people are selling them for UNGODLY amounts still. Around 100k miles and they still want 15-17k??!?

i strongly recommend 6th gen! the supercharger whine is addicting! keep in mind the supercharged models will require premium! I average about 21.5 MPG (even when im punching it for fun) and i hear the 7th Gen SS gets about 17-19 mpg? (not 100% sure, correct me if im wrong)

let us know what you decide!

Thanks for the inputs guys, i'd love to have a roaring V8 but the ungodly prices of 7th gens keep me turned off. Even some 6th gens i've seen are stupid high. Im going to be very picky here, as reccomended i'll be on the look out for an 04 and i am going for supercharged. I dont have an exact time frame but im thinking sometime in the next six months. just have to see how things go. Im aware of the fact that i'll have to use premium gas but im sure i'll get used to spending a bit more at the pump.
