Default tranny question

Ok so I got a '95 Z34 and yesterday it wouldnt shift outta 3rd (down shift, upshift) and I took it right to the tranny shop and they said that it was a quad sensor. So my question is, is there 1 that typicaly goes or do they have to replace all of them. They say they need to run more tests on the car to see which one but that is $$$. So any imput would help. Thanks

better off replacing all of them . and changeing the screen and filter out.

But if i had the cash i would just rebuild it at that time i pull it out to save my self from having to do it again later.

IF your handy with tools and can get a book on it you would be suprsed at how easy trannys are to rebuild.
But if your not real sure of it or how to do it after reading the destructions completely then dont attempt it.
But if you would like to learn go get one from a bone yard and rebuild it. at least then you wont hurt the one in the car trying to learn on it.

If this is the case why the hell is it sooo damn hard to find a trans shop that can do it right? Transmissions are quite complicated these days with the integration of electronics. There are more things that can and do go wrong with today’s trans vs the recent past.

I have not heard the term "Quad Sensor" before. Enlighten me please

I was wrong it is called a quad driver and everything is fixed now. I have no clue about tranny's but this is how it was explained to me that a shift silinoid B was triping quad driver A and B if that makes any sense but regardless the tranny wasn't gettin any power to it
