My opinion is if you like the ssr go for it...Having said that, I never really liked them they were not practical for anything, they were very heavy so they can't be made to go really fast....decently fast yes, but no kiler...there a pickup shape but I don't think they can really haul anything...I am a fan of Holden Utes, but those can go fast while hauling stuff...

Honestly I like the GTO as an option over the SSR, they are no head turners in looks by any means (IMO) But really good bang for the buch...'04's (LS1) Can be had for low teens, '05/'06's can be had for high teens, low 20's...Yes many were raced, but that's the case with almost any performance car...BUT having said that with enough seaching you can find the right one in great condition for a great price...

As stated the GTO Was never made as a replacement for anything, they were put in place to fill a void that GM did not have at the time (RWD V8) they are good cars with great interiors, plunty of interior room for a 2 door, and decent power so it is a good option.

Again whatever you think fits you best weather it's ssr, gto, camaro best of luck with your decision, and let us know how it turns out!

no reason why the ls2 ssr couldnt do the same thing as a tbss, and they can be made to be hideously fast. all it takes is money and determination.

I have to disagree with you about the GTO not being a looker. Your Goat is incredibly sexy!

The 2004's were not my cup of tea, but the 05-06 was very nice.

Ironic how the automotive press always complained about Pontiac and all their plastic cladding, etc. and then complained that the GTO was too plain. I thought the GTO looked great.

You need to realize that they have discontinued a lot of body panels interior pieces and the SSR under warranty can't be fixed with no part available.

I'm not a big fan of the SSR. For around 20k you can find yourself a sweet C4 Vette. We just got an 96 Grand Sport and it's awesome.

haha interesting conversation here guys, but its really helped me out already.
1:the SSR might not be typical for me considering my work-field.
2: the gto, not as sexy as monte carlo (too straigh-bodied) and also is a 5-year old car (resale value)
3: that trailblazer ss from hell would def get me in trouble lol.
4: i wanted a ws6 tran am but all of em have been run ito the ground
5: i think its about time i got my first love: camaro.

has anybody test driven a pontiac g8 yet. i heard they came with ls3
