Default Traction Control Question

2004 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged (Intimidator)

Ok, my car should be able to burn out with the traction control off. When it is on and I try it does for a second and then stops. So I turn it off and try again just for fun. Same thing. It does for like a sec and then cuts power like the TC is still on. SOOOO is it the TC malfunctioning and not shutting off OR is the supercharged SS just that weak?

Now if it is weak I am soon fixing that with the Stage 3 Performance Package from 3800performance.com. I am getting the upgraded intake, the SLP cat back exhaust, 180 degree thermostat, pcm upgrade, colder plugs, performance wires, TB spacer, and the 3.4 puller. I am also getting pads/rotors(slotted) from them as well all in one shipment. Now This is happening the first week in June so of course I will post pics and videoc clips of the new exhaust once it is installed (the day after I get the shipment).

ANYWAY, back to the TC question, anyone have a clue?

Weak....now on my GTP I did this. Set the parking brake and turn off the TC. It'll set there and smoke 'em, or mine did.

Well after posting this last night and realizing I am about to drop $2000 in the car to beef it up it, then it occured to me. Just trade it in for the car you really want. I am working with my dealer now to find a 2002 Camaro SS (hopefully SLP edition). So I may not be a true member here anymore in the near future

The traction control will detect when a tire is spining and may even apply the brake to it. If you are going to purposefully smoke em, you will want to turn the traction control off.

I did and the same thing happens. Sorry I probably didnt make that clear in the original post. I can turn it off and still have the same effect. Slight spin and then the engine cuts power. As mentioned before I was worried it was because it was just too weak. The more I think about it the more I am leaning towards just selling it and getting the 02 Camaro SS. My dealer is already looking for me. Going to have them look at my car monday to see what I can trade it for. If they try to rip me I know I can get $19,000 for it locally. Since I started the SS Club website I need the SS Camaro or else I wasted my time

If you're looking for a car just to beef up, the 02 Camaro would be the place to spend the money. I'd love to see another twin turbo Camaro again.

Naaaa not going twin turbo, will be changing the exhaust, pcm upgrade, intake, MAF sensor upgrade, and rocker arms. Should get me to almost 400 hp IF I can find an 02 SS.
