Hi Member's, the above thread was precipitated by a conversation we had at work this morning when one of the employee's stated that his 06 Hyundai Sonata had a top speed of 147 MPH
He then stated that he runs the1/4 mile in the mid 14's & in the high 90's...(He later brought in his timing slips from the drags 2 prove it). He claimed he beat a SuperCharged Monte ?
*Only Mod's: K&N & Exhausts/Tuned
I researched the car & it only has a 3.3L V6 with 235 HP & a five speed auto.
I did find this on my search from Car & Driver.

The dread traffic camera gains another foothold. Arizona traffic camera nails a speeder, and will likely nail a whole bunch more.

Why do we build vehicle's to go over
the highest allowed speed limit ? + when the top speed limits
are listed below ?
*Note the highest legal speed is in a very small portion in
Texas at 85 MPH
I think they want us to Speed (?) LOL
Pay big fines, increase our insurance cost, burn up our tires & damage our parts to keep auto businesses in business + the traffic courts
+ reduce the human population + keep doctors & hospitals
in business + + + + It's all $'s dollars & No Sense (lol)
Why do we need 1500 + Horsepower vehicle ?

The fastest I went was 122 and then the car governed out. I was by myself and all I had done was the cold air intake.

How often have you drove it to top speed ?
Was your Monte in top condition when you did it ? (Good Tires/shocks/brakes/etc ?)...
I've just seen to many that drive fast & their rides are in very poor condition & they run the interstates & roads as fast as they can...
I've slowed way down since my teen years & I love going fast & taking my ride to the limit until I witness another bad accident & then it reminds me to slow down...

**Note, I think I've drank to many cups of high test coffee this morning to stay awake...>LOL>

The fastest i've had my car is maybe 100, no speeding tickets or any other tickets either. Hoping to keep it that way.

I have had my Monte going 145...it still had more in it but that's about were the speedo stops so I didn't figure it would be worth going any faster.

Spacerider, it was a few times and it was like when I first got the car and gas was a bit cheaper than now a days. Most of the time now I drive around the speed limit.
