Hello my Peeps ! Happy Easter to you all !! I am looking for new tires, yes I know there is a wheel/tire sub-forum on here, But it doesn't look visited very much! I have stock 16" wheels on my '03 SS pace car which takes 225/60R16 stock tire size. My question is can I go next size up wider and what size would let me be a little wider but also keep the same sidewall height so as not have a lower profile and more open wheel well as there is enough of that already !! thanks in advance guys !! ... Just curious your motivation for wanting to go with a 235? Doesn't seem like enough of a change to be worth messing with and youd think there would be more options in a 225.

Unfortunately because the profile sizes are usually in 5% increments, you're not going to get an exact match in height. Both staying at a 60 and dropping to a 55 would both probably be 1/2" or so off- but certainly you can play with a calculator like posted above to see which you prefer.

 

I am interested in this as well, not that I have much to offer for info. My 02 DE came with I believe 195R/16's and my Jeeps had 225's which I always upped to 235's.
Well recently I got a flat on my Jeep, so for no particular reason other than to move tire out of the way, I rolled it up against one of the Monte tires and it looked HUGE in comparison.
As I have stated in my DE thread, the wheel wells had been cut out and a 2 inch lift installed. Well let me tell you a 235/16 would raise the car a full four inches, on top of the 2 already added, and would have needed the wheel wells cut out. So I'm a bit baffled, but I can only attribute it to the particular tire itself, Is a Goodyear Eagle RS-A 235/16 smaller than a Goodyear Tracker AT 235/16? I don't know maybe someone does?

 

What you're missing is the middle number, the aspect ratio. If that number is the same, both tires will be about the same height. Obviously if they're 2" taller, the aspect ratio is much larger on one (235 40 16 vs 235 70 16).
