thought it was original
ok, i am beyond meticulous when buying a car.
I go over every inch of it to make sure everything should be there thats supposed to be there.
So i couldnt believe it when after a month of owning the car i noticed something.
The 1st pic is the dealer pic of the car. Notice the little emblem above the GM emblem?
It says V8 - see close up in the second pic.
I really thought it was supposed to be there.
Turns out, thats a V8 emblem from a ... ford explorer
Now i don't want to peel it off (its stuck good) but it's not original.
Kind of looks like it should be there too.
So I'm probably going to leave it, would anyone else leave it?

I would not want to drive a car with badging from a different manufacturer, it's tacky. I'm not a fan of the GM squares, but at least they were original.

I honestly don't mind the v8 symbol. It's not like it's a lie like the jeeps or pt's running around with ss on their fenders, or a monte with R/T on it. IMO I don't think anyone'd really recognize it being from a ford unless they happen to be looking at that specific emblem and happen to have an explorer with a v8 (i assumed it came from auto zone until i kept reading).
I guess i agree and disagree--it's tacky to have a ford symbol on a chevy, however every company (even foreign) produces an 8 cylinder engine so it really doesn't phase me. I wouldn't have it on mine, but that's because i like it when people think i'm rockin a 3800 and then get this face when i correct them and still have to prove it .
side note--my GM squares are gone as soon as i get a chance. Never liked em, just never got around to taking em off. Maybe i'll 3M them to my buddies f-150...or even better--send em to mike (03JGMonte) for his perdy new edge
