Thinking About Trading The Monte
#41
I don't think you'll be sorry. I'd for 4 it. I love my 2006 SS V8. Sounds like you've looked at this pretty good. The smarter thing to do is. Sell your older one outright. Not give it to the dealer. let us know what you do. Rick

I'd also say go for it if you had the money- The 7th Gen Montes were good looking cars and of course, have an optional V8. The Impala front end is not as good looking as the 6th Gens front end, (in my opinion) but you don't have to worry about non-removable bulbs in the Instrument, AC and radio (if it's stock) clusters burning out! GM used LED lighting in the 7th Gens I believe.. Also, I'm agreeing with bumpin96monte about the transmission- I believe GM used the same tranny in the '06 and '07 Monte, even with the V8.

Going to dig up an old thread here but I never went with the 7th gen SS, mainly because I didn't really want to finance a 17,000+ car. But I'm currently looking at a 2003 Black SS Limited Edition w/ the Silver grounds. And the price is excellent (ie. I can pay cash for it). Going to go take a look at it tomorrow. Luckily this one is at a dealership in town - the others were like an hour away.

Went to look at the '03 today. It's a small dealership (which I like). The guy offered me KBB value for mine. He was quite impressed with mine. Especially the low miles.
However, there are a few problems. It also has a rust spot on the rear fender (but not as bad as mine). Also, the drivers side head light has a busted seal, so that'll need replaced. But if I do that and then re-spray the front, it should be good as new. Although, the interior does have a bit of a smoke smell. That could be a deal crusher.
