Default Thank yous.

I've said it a bunch but I'm new here and new to Monte Carlo SS's but I'm learning and hoping I'm not too annoying. I just wanted to thank everyone here for being helpful but at the same time civil and not getting uppity if a question I asked was already covered. You guys are good people I'm glad I joined it took me a while as most forums have so much negativity. Thanks everyone.

Glad to help!

We were always one of the few forums to truly have a family like atmosphere. You should have been here in the hayday, it was such a cool group of people

You all are great people. I have been on some horrible forums I can't do it anymore.

Boy Howdy! They all seem to have their 'cliques' and as the late George Carlin said - "it's a big club, and you ain't in it" If you see the cars in my signature, I've joined a forum for every one (except the Buick) and some are a little disappointing. It's too bad parts aren't reproduced for our cars, it would be so much easier! I bought my Monte new for my 40th birthday, and have driven it daily until last month. I have bought 4 projects in between, 3 from out of state, and spent time restoring them. But it's a little different when you have to take your 'baby' off the road awhile to fix it, but that's where I am right now. I'm glad to be in this group without hearing 'you should put drop spindles and discs on it' or 'you should do a clip job on it' or 'you should put a big block in it' or 'you should convert it to a two door'. A lot of forums have guys who all they say is 'I don't know, but someone will chime in' just to add to their 40,000 posts (not kidding) And I've even heard people say 'they're not real Monte Carlos because they are front wheel drive' But whatever, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Glad to be here, and hope I have some restoration pics to share soon, for when someone else wants to take their own project on.

The few forums I've ever hesitantly joined you get permanently made fun of for making a spelling error. I'm serious. That's how bad 1 of the boards I was on was..... But since I've been here which has been only about 2 weeks i've always gotten help and never anything negative like "you should of searched 1st this has been gone over many times". Anyways glad to be here and for the help as I am new to these cars.

This is the only forum (from car forums to gaming forums) that I have ever been on that encourages the creation of new topics and with good reason, thats how I think they all should be. I get it, the info might be there for you to search and Im in no way encouraging laziness but it helps tremendously with someone's specific problem and makes a connection with the community on a personal level.

Its the internet tho and it seems like the majority of people here ("here" as in the internet, not MCF) want to be a-holes or start internet drama.

Lol, your earlier comments make me think of the Z forums. Maaaaaan, thats all I have to say about that.

Glad youre here, stick around.

This here ive seen told to people so many times. I dont get it, they act like theyre obligated to respond or are not there voluntarily for the reason of helping others.
I get it but why be unnecessarily rude like that?

I do understand this one to an extent. Some forums get so clogged up with repeat topics about the exact same issue month after month. It drives the long timers away when every few days someone new joins and opens a new topic on a subject that's been beat to death (or even better 3 of the same in different sub groups).

A good example are the C6 forums with OEM balancer failures. At one point I'd bet 1/3 of the engine section topics were about it before they got the sticky up. Its easy to skip over if the subject is clear, but there would be plenty of threads that would just say 'help' or 'engine issue' and you'd spend a few minutes reading the book they wrote, just to see their question was 'my balancer is coming apart, what do I do?'.

Luckily there aren't a lot of ultra common topics on this platform to warrant a huge number of threads like that.

The weird thing about searching a topic before you post, I've always done that and got no hits to the keyword still know someone has had to have posted about my question. So I'm not sure what the problem is with that search function or if its me being new and not using it properly hah. But regardless I've asked questions that have been obviously covered and gotten no crap for re asking. Thanks for the encouragement good luck to you too

We have always tried to be "family friendly". I bought my first Monte Carlo in 2008 and did not get the bug to start modding until about 2009-2010. Back in those days there were a lot of active W-Body (Grand Prix/Impala/Monte Carlo) forums, the platform was still alive..... Chibiblacksheep (aka Mike) convinced me to spend more time here and I eventually did. Been a heck of a ride the past 13 years since I got my Monte Carlo! Sadly, since GM retired the name plate, there is limited fresh activity. Many of these have become a "beater with a heater". Some are fortunate to get some level of restore and appreciation and a fortunate few of these cars never suffered any serious abuse or road salt decay.
And I have heard many snub at my 2004 being FWD. Haters are going to hate. I find the car fun to drive, fun to mod things, just simply fun! I now own a 2000 Monte Carlo SS and over some time, see what can happen with it. If I can get my big garage built (trying to get companies to call back with a quote), I might be able to do more with my car projects.....
Anycase, we try to keep the lights on here and keep things easy and relaxed.

The person I bought up from said he wishes it was a rear wheel drive he said I don't know why they did that. Also I took it to get a tire pressure sensor done that was missing and the dude said the same thing right off the bat. I would like it rear wheel drive personally because the only cars I've driven with any power have been that way so I'm used to it but I've never broken traction in a front wheel drive car at the same time so that's new. Plus I have the black Amethest/Blue lunar quartz color on a 2007 SS so I'd say I'm 1 of maybe 500 cars so it will hopefully appreciate in price. Thanks for responding. And oh anytime I buy a new car within 24 hours something has been modified 😂.
