Going to get the oil changed for the first time, was wondering what kind of oil my fellow supercharged SS owners used. Any help/insight is appreciated, thanks.

 

If you're talking about engine oil, you can use your favorite oil of choice. Personally I use Castrol full synthetic in mine.

 

Engine oil or Supercharger oil?

Engine oil, find your favorite DEXOS approved 5w-30 and run it.

Supercharger oil, stick with GM. You usually need 2 bottles, or you can buy the single bottle from ZZP:

GM ACDelco - GM Supercharger Oil #GM-12345982

ZZPerformance - ZZP Supercharger Oil #ZZ-SCOIL

 

Currently running Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w-30, I usually switch between Castrol/Castrol Edge and Mobil 1 full synthetic oils. I prefer Castrol, but I got the jug at a awesome deal I could not refuse. Now if its supercharger oil, I stick with the factory oil. Plan on changing it every 20k-25k miles.

 

why synthetic oil? I had a prius at one time and used it there cause of the electric. But on a monte what are the advantages of using synthetic oil?

 

synthetic lasts longer than conventional oil, and a overall better oil in my opinion. I used to drive alot in heavy stop and go traffic. I switched to synthetic so I'm not changing my oil every month/ month & a half. Now I love it...My miles have decreased but I can stretch out that oil change to only once or twice a season.
