Default Stock Radio

I have a 2000 MC SS and in the meantime while I'm debating what aftermarket double din radio to get installed I need to find a way to clean out the stock radio cassette player. I use an cassette cartridge to play my iPod. I bought a cassette player cleaner but it does not work. The player just continually ejects the adapter while I'm trying to listen to my music and it blows. Does anyone know of a good way to clean out my cassette player?

what you need to do is hold down the tape selector button on the radio when the radio is off. wait for it to say ready then put the cassette in

Wish I would have known that when we had my mom's impala ls, it had the top tier radio but that cassette player didn't like my adapter to much.

The tip worked thanks @Lorenzo. But the player is still ejecting the adapter and telling me to check the tape. I'll just save up my money and get an aftermarket radio installed.

These radios just don't like the adapters - mine would spit it back out as well. I went to an FM transmitter, but my KIA has either Bluetooth pairing or an AUX in so, when I actually drive the Monte Carlo the FM radio is enough.
